ASTM A320/A320M Grade L43 is a high-performance nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy steel bolting grade that extends the capabilities of L7 to larger diameters. Manufactured from AISI 4340 material with 1.65-2.00% nickel content, L43 maintains identical mechanical properties to L7 (125 ksi tensile, 105 ksi yield) but is available in diameters up to 4 inches. ASTM A320/A320M Grade L43 is particularly advantageous for heavy industrial applications including large pressure vessels, hydroelectric turbines, and massive structural connections requiring proven low temperature toughness at -150°F.
