ASTM A320/A320M Grade B8 is the foundation austenitic stainless steel bolting grade upon which all other A320 stainless grades are based. Containing 18-20% chromium and 8-10.50% nickel, B8 provides excellent corrosion resistance, formability, and low temperature toughness down to cryogenic temperatures. Class 1 carbide solution treatment achieves 75 ksi tensile strength with 30% minimum elongation and maximum hardness of 223 HBW. This versatile grade serves as the industry standard for general low temperature bolting in food processing, architectural applications, and pressure equipment where moderate corrosion resistance and cost-effectiveness are primary considerations.
